Resolution


Problem:
During HMC3.5 installation execution of "Configure Exchange Frontend Servers" procedure fails with:

Exception: Microsoft.Provisioning.DeploymentTool.Engine.DeploymentExceptionDeploymentFailed
Message: Deployment interrupted because of a failure. See inner exception.


Exception: Microsoft.Provisioning.DeploymentTool.Engine.NamedProcedureException
Message: <errorContext description="Method not found: 'System.String System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.get_Password()'." code="0x80131513" executeSeqNo="71"><errorSource namespace="Computer Management Provider" procedure="Set Properties" /><errorSource namespace="Deployment Automation" procedure="SetWinNTProperties_" /><errorSource namespace="Deployment Automation" procedure="ExecuteDeploymentStep_" /><errorSource namespace="Deployment Automation" procedure="ExecuteDeployment_" /><errorSource namespace="Deployment Automation" procedure="ConfigureExchangeFrontEnds" /></errorContext>


Explanation:
System.String System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.get_Password() method is not supported by .NET Framework 2.0.

Resolution:
Deinstall .NET Framework 2.0 from HMC hardware node.

Additional information

Note: After working around this problem, .NET Framework 2.0 should be installed back because PSA MSExchange package can't be installed to back-end if the .NET Framework 2.0 is not installed on MPS node.
