Parallels

Symptoms

The Installation of the Software fails or various errors appear, like:
"Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\PROFES~1\RunTime\10\50\Intel32\Ctor.dll".

Cause

Windows InstallShield program unexpected behavior.

Resolution

1. Start Windows and open "C:\Program Files\" (My Computer - Drive C - Program Files).


2. Enable the "Show the hidden files and folders" option.

     If you use Windows Explorer, go to the Tools menu - Folder Option... - View tab - Show the hidden files and folders.

Remove the following files depending on the problem you are experiencing:

• C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{B730E908-1FD5-4170-A0FE-B6AB874344F0}\setup.ilg file - if the problem is with installing Parallels Tools


• C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{ECEBA21C-8607-40A7-AB90-9E929AA6CB20}\setup.ilg file - if the problem is with installing Parallels Workstation


• C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{E41AF733-7681-49EB-B4FE-33B553922094}\setup.ilg file - if the problem is with installing Parallels Transporter Client part


• C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{49F0F4A3-E03B-47DC-8914-36563E12685E}\setup.ilg - if the problem is with installingParallels Transporter Agent part

Try installing the software again.

If removing the specified above files does not help, remove the parent folder(s) of the file(s) with all content and try to install the software again.

If removing the parent folder(s) does not help either, create a backup of "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield" folder, remove the folder and try to install the software.

Restore the folder from backup if you encounter any problems after that.
